UPDATED: 146.67 Faces Downtime

E-mail Print PDF

Club president Matt Anderson, N0MSA reports on the status of the St. Charles Amateur Radio Club's main repeater - 146.670.

What is going on:
Whether you were at the last meeting, heard it on email, or listened on the repeater itself….. The 146.670 Main repeater site is still down.  The work on the water tower has been completed.  We have a quote for the equipment to be put back up on the tower, we are just waiting for the some of the other occupants that are sharing the tower work contractor, to get all of their equipment in to start putting it all on.  As far as our equipment, is has all been checked out, we will be using a different antenna that has a more consistent pattern and some Heliax that will yield a longer line without a connection in the middle.  Please stay tuned, as I'll let you know when we have a more solid date.

What you can do:
Use the other repeaters!!! Our repeater committee and specifically Ed, KØKL and Jim, N5MU, have worked really hard to make the -145.330 repeater an updated and very functional system. I want to thank them for their hard work, as even the Augusta remote receive site is slated to possibly be online within a week!!!

Please do not wander around the repeater site. They are concerned that too many people will be in the area of the site as the construction is going on. It is a REQUIREMENT that a hard hat and steel toed shoes be worn, when there. But, more importantly, we shouldn’t be impeding the work of the people at the site. If you want to help or have suggestions…. PLEASE call/email myself or Ed Karl. We have been coordinating items as to ensure a smooth a consistent communications and execution of tasks that need to be done. Please let me know if you have further questions. I will return emails within the day, usually.

Thanks and 73, Matt

Repeater Information

2 Meter

146.670- Mhz (WB0HSI)

145.330+ Mhz (KO0A)

146.67 is located in O'Fallon on a 150' site, it runs about 60 watts into a 6 db gain antenna, or about 140 watts ERP (taking line loss into account). There are 3 remote receivers located at Hawk Point, St. Charles and, Augusta. The input for these sites is 146.07 and relay to the main repeater on 440 Mhz. A controller system at the site "votes" for the best signal in any of the 4 inputs measuring noise on the signal.

145.33 is located in St Charles near Lindenwood College. It runs about the same power as the O'Fallon repeater. The remote sites for this repeater are downtown St. Louis on an office building, Warrenton, and Augusta (same site as O'Fallon input).

440 Mhz

444.650+ Mhz (WB0HSI)

The 440 repeater is co-located at the St Charles site and is self contained (no remote inputs).

None of the repeater sites require a PL Tone.
